BIO
Argaw holds a PhD in Construction Management from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Technology and Management from Addis Ababa University, where he also earned his first degree in Construction Technology and Management. He has extensive teaching experience, having lectured on quantity surveying, project management, construction economics, cost engineering, and concrete technology at Addis Ababa University, and served as a sessional academic staff at the University of Melbourne before joining Deakin University. At Deakin, he teaches cost planning, building measurement and estimating, project management, strategic construction procurement, and other construction management units.
Argaw has published in several top-tier construction management journals such as the Journal of Construction Engineering and Management (ASCE), both as a sole author and in collaboration with other researchers. His research interests encompass construction labour productivity, construction management practices, building defects, cost management, life cycle analysis, and sustainable construction. In addition to his academic career, Argaw has worked as a project manager, resident engineer, quantity surveyor and contract administrator on various successful building and road projects.
