BIO
Dr Jithin Joseph MIEAust CMatP
Dr Joseph has an interdisciplinary background in mechanical engineering and materials engineering, with extensive experience (10+ years) in working within an array of high-performing academic (RMIT, Monash, UNSW, University of South Australia and IIT Madras/Hyderabad) and Australian industry (such as INFRABUILD, SANDVIK, Callidus) partners.
The area of expertise includes:
- Advanced manufacturing of engineering alloys (Fe-, Ni-, Ti-, Al- and high entropy alloys)
- Processing-microstructure-property relationships through tailored heat treatment and thermomechanical processing.
- Mechanical testing of alloys (nano- to macro- scale; tensile/compressive/bending; ambient-high temperature)
- Surface engineering and surface coating techniques (wear, corrosion, oxidation, and surface integrity of alloys and coatings)
- Advanced microstructural characterisation (SEM/TEM/APT/XRD).
- Sustainable alloy design (computational/CALPHAD)
Achievements:
- Vice-Chancellor's 10 Years Service Milestone Award (2024)
- Listed among Stanford's top 2% scientist list (2024) for single-recent year impact-2023 (Subfield: Materials).
- 1st and corresponding author of the most cited research article in Wear published after 2018
- 1st and corresponding author of one of the most cited research articles in Scripta Materialia and Manufacturing Letters published after 2020
