TEACHING EXPERTISE

Hourieh is an experienced software engineering educator with a teaching portfolio that spans foundational to advanced subjects in software engineering and data science. She is serving as Unit Chair for several units at Deakin University (2022–present), where she leads and coordinates a range of undergraduate and postgraduate units, including Introduction to Software Engineering, Capstone Team Project, Applied Software Engineering, Software Requirements Analysis and Modelling, and Software Engineering Project. She has also served as Company Director for the Capstone Team Project, overseeing industry engagement and team-based project delivery.

Previously, Hourieh lectured at Monash University (2019–2022), delivering core units in Software Engineering and Data Wrangling (Python). She also held teaching associate roles in Modelling for Data Analysis and Applied Data Analysis using R and Python.

Her earlier teaching roles include tutoring in Research and Development in Information Technology at Deakin University (2017–2018), Data Structures and Patterns (C++) at Swinburne University (2017), and lecturing in Fundamentals of Computer and Programming (C) at a private higher education institute in Tehran (2011–2014).

Across institutions, Hourieh has demonstrated a commitment to active learning, inclusive teaching, and interdisciplinary curriculum design, integrating software engineering, AI, and data analytics into her pedagogy.
