BIO
I hold a bachelor or Management (Hons) from the University of South Australia together with Bachelor of Vision Science and Master of Optometry from Deakin University. I am a long standing and active member of the teaching and learning team in the School of Medicine (Optometry), I teach across all four year cohort groups in the Optometry course and have a specific interest in the nuances of the potential tension between commercial optometry practice and ocular health care (HMO105 The Business of Optometry) and am a lead clinical skills teacher across years 2 and 3 of the Optometry course. I also play an active role in the teaching and learning curriculum of our 4th (final) year students while they are on long term external placement.
I am the Clinic Director of the Deakin Collaborative Eye Care Clinic (established in 2020). In this short period, DCECC has established itself as a world class teaching and learning facility, has gained a reputation as a world wide clinical trial partner of choice (has participated in multiple sponsored anterior ocular health clinical trials), and, a leading clinical optometry service provider to the broader Barwon community. I am responsible for the overall clinical and commercial operations of DCECC's Waurn Ponds and Lorne clinics.
My clinical optometry interest lies in anterior eye disease care and management and I am a lead clinician in the DCECC dry eye clinic - consulting to community and also providing instruction and guidance to our students attending on site clinical placement.
