TEACHING EXPERTISE

For my epistemology as a scientist and science educator teaching the scientific method in a cognitive constructivism environment, I demonstrate my beliefs through the scientific framework, placing my overarching educational philosophy in the realm of the pragmatist, on building constructed and participative knowledge with students.  I train students to think like scientists, sit with uncertainty, and impart that our world is constantly changing, as is our knowledge. Success is demonstrated through excited, enquiring and critical minds engaged with curriculum designed for deep and universal conceptual understanding. I uphold teaching ‘virtues in action’ and focus on listening, compassion and commitment to pastoral care.

I chair SLE254 Genetics and Genomics and SLE251 Research Methods and Data Analysis.

I am an a thesis examiner including student's oral presentations and thesis submission. I focus on postive and constructive feedback when writing my examiners reports and always am excited and supportive during presentations, some of the best fun!

I am the Off Campus HDR coordinator, taking care of our incredible student cohort with a passion for all of the diverse research and culture I enjoy in this role.
