DrJodi McAlister

Jodi's research has two main arms - romantic love and popular culture - which often overlap. She is deeply interested in the ways we talk and tell stories about love in popular culture, and what those do to the ways we think. She has approached these questions from many different angles, looking at media such as romance fiction and reality television, as well as real-life phenomena like dating apps. She is also interested in books as part of ecosystems - the ways they make their way from author through industries and platforms to readers. 

As a PhD supervisor, Jodi is particularly interested in projects which speak to at least one of these two arms.

She is a member of the Reading Writing Futures research network.
