BIO
My work aspires to contribute to safe and secure communities by informing social responses to different forms of violence, facilitating smarter technologies through the promotion of critical digital literacies, and enabling a sustainable world by addressing structural drivers of violence such as climate change, social discrimination, and precarity.
I employ relational, theory-driven, mixed-methods approaches to investigate various politically violent actors, focusing on the mediation of violence and its dynamics. With research spanning comparative political violence, political ecology, development studies, and public criminology, I also foster broad international collaborations with scholars from regions including Prague, Poland, Sweden, Canada, Germany, Ireland, England, Wales, New Zealand, and the US.
My teaching approach emphasises the global impact of racial, gender, and socio-economic disparities on public and interpersonal violence, as well as their treatment in domestic criminal justice systems and international security. I strive to raise awareness of these disparities among students through practices that foster deep critical thinking and reflective learning.
