DrNatalie Winter

Dr Natalie Winter is a Senior Reserach Fellow in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Her program of research includes develping and assessing how digital health interventions can be adapted for carers of people with a variety of types of cancer, and for people from diverse backgrounds (LGBT+).  She use co-design methods, working work with consumers, national organisations to develop interventions which are fit for purpose. Dr Winter has been awarded over $2.5 million in awards and research funding and has published over 20 papers. 

I have ongoing collaborations with reserchers from Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, and the University of Southern Denmark investigating the use of video-based edcuation packages for people living with complex cancers and their family carer during the transition from hospital to home. 

I have an interest in progressing the inclusion of carers in the healthcare system through policy, have published a policy brief on prioritising carers and was invited to attend a hearing during the Royal Commission Inquiry into the Role of Unpaid Carers as an expert witness. I have been a project manager on large scale randomised controlled trials for over 5 years and have expertise in the development of interventions, recruitment and data collection and dissemination of findings in peer reviewed journals.
