BIO
Dr Enqi Weng is a sociologist with research interest in the politics of difference and its implications for social inclusion, belonging and health in multicultural Australia. Drawing on decolonial epistemologies and methodologies, her research spans three interconnected areas: digital equity for diverse communities; the media politicisation of race and religion; and intercultural perceptions and relations.
She has engaged directly with over 60 community members from migrant, refugee, and multicultural backgrounds as a Research Fellow on government- and industry-funded projects, including the Australian Research Council Discovery and Linkage projects. She has experience working collaboratively with community organisations, policymakers, and social service providers to address equitable access to health, housing, and employment.
She is currently Teaching Fellow with the School of Communication and Creative Arts and Co-Managing Editor for the Journal of Religion, Media and Digital Culture.
She was a former communications practitioner, with extensive industry experience in marketing communications, branding and public relations, including for-purpose organisations that advocate for social inclusion, gender equity and environmental sustainability.
