Ben's research explores the creative process in contemporary advertising practice with a particular focus on screen-based advertising and how the individual creative practitioner's lived experience plays a vital role in making valuable connections between brands and audiences through popular music. This research interest extends into Persona Studies by examining how practitioners' identities influence the work they produce.

Through his research interests, Ben also investigates and implements autoethnography as a method to deepen contemporary qualitative research in the creative industries through first-hand experiences.
