TEACHING EXPERTISE

Dr Sadick brings extensive teaching experience spanning undergraduate and postgraduate construction management education. At Deakin University, he delivers units across building environmental systems, sustainable construction, research methods, project management, and quantity surveying practice. His teaching is informed by prior industry experience as a project manager and quantity surveyor, enabling him to connect theoretical concepts with professional practice.

A distinctive feature of Dr Sadick's teaching is his integration of innovative technologies to enhance student learning. He developed an interactive web application that automates building acoustics analysis, providing students with immediate feedback on complex calculations. This innovation earned him the 2024 SEBE Teaching Excellence Award. He has also created a 3D virtual tour of commercial building services, allowing students to explore heating, cooling, electrical, fire, and communications systems in an immersive environment that supports authentic assessment.

Dr Sadick is committed to developing a curriculum that reflects contemporary industry standards and practices. He has revised and developed content for multiple units to ensure alignment with current sustainability requirements and to facilitate scaffolded learning pathways for students progressing through the construction management programme.

He supervises postgraduate research students investigating topics including social housing energy performance, construction quality inspection using robotic systems, and social life cycle assessment in construction. His supervision approach draws on his research expertise in building performance, indoor environmental quality, and artificial intelligence applications in the built environment.

Prior to joining Deakin University, Dr Sadick held teaching assistant positions at the University of Manitoba, Canada, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, where he supported units in infrastructure engineering, engineering economics, professional communication, and quantity surveying.
