BIO

Lara is an academic General Practitioner privileged to live and work on Wadawurrung Country. Her current professional role is Director of Rural Medical Education and the Rural Community Clinical School at Deakin University’s School of Medicine. Having been actively involved in rural medical education and curriculum design within a Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship for 10 years, her current focus is on medical education research and translation to the design and implementation of rural health professional training programs. Lara is working on her pHD on learning in place: the creation of a community-based Rural Training Stream in Southwestern Victoria to grow a local health professional workforce. Alongside this work, she enjoys playing violin in a range of chamber ensembles and orchestras and re-invigorating herself in nature.
