BIO

Lara is an academic General Practitioner with experience leading teams to design and deliver effective rural medical education programs.  Lara has directed Deakin University's Longitudinal Clerkship program and led the establishment of an end-to-end Rural Training Stream in the Doctor of Medicine course. Lara’s research is directed towards understanding best practice in comprehensive, socially accountable program design and evaluating workforce outcomes for rural communities.   Lara is currently working on her PhD entitled: ‘Comprehensive place-based program design and implementation in rural medical education. Alongside this work, she enjoys playing violin in a range of chamber ensembles and orchestras and re-invigorating herself in nature.
