BIO

I am a passionate teacher and enthusiastic researcher with expertise in geotechnical engineering, particularly in expansive soil behaviour. I hold a PhD from Monash University (2005) and a BSc.Eng (First Class Honours) from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Before joining Deakin University in 2019, I held academic appointments at Monash University and Federation University Australia.

 

My research is collaborative and interdisciplinary, involving both national and international university partners as well as industry. My current projects focus on the use of recycled waste in construction, sustainable soil stabilization, bio-cementation for crack healing, mitigation of desiccation cracks in clay, and the effects of climate change on geo-infrastructure.

 

I actively contribute to the academic community as a guest editor and reviewer for several journals. I am currently accepting PhD and master’s students who are interested in these or related areas of research.
