Associate ProfessorDhananjay Thiruvady

Dhananjay Thiruvady is Associate Head of School (Industry Research) and Associate Professor of Mathematics and Optimisation at Deakin University. Since completing his PhD in Optimisation at Monash University in 2012, he has worked at the interface of academia and industry, developing and applying artificial intelligence and operations research techniques to real-world challenges in mining, logistics, health, biosecurity, and agriculture.

He has secured more than $3.5 million in external competitive funding in the areas of optimisation, IoT, and logistics. He has published more than 90 papers in leading conferences and journals in evolutionary computation and operations research. He has served on the program committees of several international conferences, including the Australasian Data Mining Conference (AusDM), International Conference on Swarm Intelligence (ANTS), Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO), where he served as Co-Chair in 2024, and Hybrid Metaheuristics.

His teaching spans industry-focused units, algorithms, and computer programming, and he has received multiple awards for teaching excellence.
