Preferred publication outlets include journals listed on the ABDC journal list.

 

I welcome expressions of interest from prospective HDR (PhD or Masters by Research) students who are motivated, independent, and passionate about solving real-world problems through rigorous research.  To be a strong candidate, you should have:

  • Solid technical skills in statistical analysis, data processing, and analytics
  • A background in a relevant field such as data science, econometrics, computer science, applied statistics, or related disciplines
  • Good academic writing skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

 

If you are interested in working with me in one of the above research areas, please email me your CV and a two-pages research proposal. This proposal should clearly address the following:

 

  1. Research Topic: What topic do you want to study? Clearly state the research question(s) or problem you aim to address.
  2. Research Significance: Why is this topic interesting and worth investigating? Discuss the theoretical, methodological or practical importance.
  3. Data Collection Plan: How do you intend to collect the necessary data? Describe your target data sources, methods, or tools.
  4. Analytical Approach: What techniques or models might you use for data analysis? and Why? Outline your preliminary methodology.
  5. Potential Applications: Who will benefit from your research? What are the possible practical or policy implications?
  6. Novelty: What is new or different in your research compared to common sense understanding or existing literature?

 

This initial proposal does not need to be final, but it should demonstrate that you have given serious thought to your research interests and their potential contributions.

Note that to be competitive for a scholarship, PhD applicants are expected to demonstrate prior research experience.
