BIO
Professor Linda Sweet is a midwife and nurse with broad experience across clinical environments, management, research, and education. Linda is the inaugural clinical Chair of Midwifery in the Deakin University and Western Health Partnership. Prior to this appointment, she was the Head of Midwifery and HDR Coordinator at Flinders University. Professor Sweet is the deputy editor of the international journal Women and Birth. She is a peer reviewer for over 12 international journals covering midwifery, nursing, education, and rural health. Linda is a panel member of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and an assessor for the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council.
Professor Sweet is a Life Member of the Australian College of Midwives and a former Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Health Professional Educators. In 2024/5 she was a buddy on the Australian College of Midwives and the Papua New Guinea Midwifery Society's buddy leadership program.
Professor Sweet has supervised to completion 10 honours, 21 Master's, and 12 PhD students. She is currently supervising 14 research students. She has examined 29 honours, Master's or PhD theses. Linda has currently written 15 book chapters, has over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, with 12 new papers under review, and 107 non-peer-reviewed editorials, commentaries, book reviews and published abstracts.
