BIO

Dr Andrea Hernan is a mixed methods health services implementation researcher with over 15 years research experience in the University sector. Dr Hernan has an undergraduate degree in public health and health promotion and a PhD which investigated patient views of safety in Australian primary care, and resulted in the first internationally validated patient-feedback on safety tool for primary care. Dr Hernan has an emerging track record including peer reviewed publications in high quality journals, and has been successful at attracting over $300K research funding in CI capacity and over $13mil in AI capacity from national and local sources. Dr Hernan has extensive knowledge and experience in patient safety, health service implementation, and translational research projects. Dr Hernan’s additional research strengths and expertise are in qualitative enquiry, with much of her research making use of this methodology to explore and understand health service user experiences and intervention processes and impact.
