RESEARCH INTERESTS

Azmeri's research interests span multiple disciplines, including multinational construction contracting, joint venturing, construction workforce development, supply chain relationships, and sustainable construction. She is an active researcher in construction procurement and workforce.

 

Azmeri worked as a researcher on an ARC Linkage Project titled 'Major Infrastructure Procurement Research Project 2009–2013: Reforming the Procurement of Construction and Financing of Australian Infrastructure: Advancing Capacity, Competition, and Investment' (Project number LP0989743). Her PhD thesis, 'Multinational Contracting into Australia,' refined Dunning's OLI theory—the cornerstone of International Business (IB) theory—and proposed a new OLI framework in the context of multinational construction contracting. Her thesis was nominated for the University Outstanding Thesis Award by two external examiners for its outstanding contribution to knowledge and excellence in postgraduate research.

 

Achievements:

  • Developed a dominant international business theory on foreign direct investment, explaining—for the first time—the overseas bidding decisions of multinational contractors.
  • Investigated the attractiveness of the Australian road, bridge, and tunnel sector to foreign multinational contractors; identified critical factors influencing bidding decisions and provided recommendations to the Federal Government.
  • Developed an indicative map of the competitiveness of local (Australian) contractors, evaluating their sustainable competitive advantage in the road, bridge, and tunnel sector.
