BIO

I am a teacher and researcher working at Deakin University on Waddawaurrung country, Geelong.

My research interests are broadly driven by my decade of experience as a classroom teacher. I have research projects about literature for young people, including how young adult fantasy literature explores consent, gender and sexuality. I research classroom English, and how teachers and students understand and value texts. I also research the experiences of women teachers, with a focus on gender and power impact the way women teachers are able to do their jobs.

Since joining the university, I have also started researching the experience of being an academic, particular an early career researcher with care-giving responsibilities, in a neo-liberal institution that measures success through outputs. I enjoy using postqualitative, creative and feminist methodologies in this work.
