Associate ProfessorJeff Shao

Dr Jeff Shao is an Associate Professor in Leadership in the Management Discipline Group. His research focuses on leadership, emotions, and cross-cultural management, with findings published in leading journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Human Relations, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and The Leadership Quarterly. His research projects have secured funding from prominent bodies, including the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF), Baptcare, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Eastern Health, and the Ian Potter Foundation. 

A recognised expert in his field, Jeff received the Vice-Chancellor's Mid-Career Researcher Award for Career Excellence at Deakin University in 2023, following the Early Career Researcher Award from the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) in 2019. He currently serves as the Director of the Master of Leadership program and leads the Leadership & Growth Theme within the Deakin SME Research Center. Deeply engaged with the community, Jeff is the Director of the Aged Care Workers Support Network. He also contributes to the broader academic community as an Associate Editor for The Leadership Quarterly and previously for Applied Psychology: An International Review.
