BIO

Nicole Larson, PhD is a Lecturer in the Department of Management at Deakin Business School. She earned her doctorate in Industrial Organizational Psychology from the University of Calgary (Canada) and has a research program that broadly aims to advance the science and practice of high-performance teamwork.

Nicole's work is structured around three interconnected pillars:

  1. Teams: This area examines team dynamics from multilevel and longitudinal perspectives, uncovering how they emerge and are shaped by various factors.
  2. Individuals & Well-Being: This pillar explores how personal resources and job demands influence resilience, well-being, and career outcomes.
  3. Entrepreneurship: This stream focuses on entrepreneurial competencies, the impact of entrepreneurial education on mindset, and factors influencing new venture team performance, pitching, and scaling.

Across her research pillars, Nicole employs a diverse methodological toolkit, including survey methods, field and laboratory experiments, qualitative analyses, natural language processing, and multilevel modeling. Her scholarship is published in leading journals across management, psychology, and education. She has secured competitive funding and actively collaborates with industry partners, such as Eastern Health, to apply and translate research findings into practice.

Nicole also brings extensive applied expertise in team and leadership development, and curriculum design. She is the co-developer of ITP Metrics, a free online platform that provides diagnostics and micro-learning modules to individuals and teams. Drawing on her empirical research and applied experience, Nicole regularly works with Deakin Co. to design and deliver evidence-based programs to support organizations in cultivating an engaged, healthy, and high-performing workforce.
