BIO
Dr Md Saifur Rahman is an Associate Research and Teaching Fellow at the School of Information Technology (IT), Deakin University, Australia. He earned his PhD in IT from Deakin University in 2023, where his doctoral research focused on AI-based physiological signal analysis. His focal research interests include the development of robust machine learning frameworks, federated learning, and adversarial defence mechanisms, with a particular application to the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), cybersecurity, and digital health informatics.
Dr Rahman has established a distinguished research trajectory, characterised by the development of noise-aware systems and privacy-preserving architectures for healthcare. His work in Federated Learning and GAN-based synthetic data addresses critical challenges in data privacy, security, and integrity verification within smart medical spaces. His expertise extends to the analysis of complex time-series data, such as ECG and PPG signals, aiming to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and real-world clinical utility.
In addition to his research excellence, Dr Rahman is a dedicated educator at Deakin University, where he contributes to the academic development of students in the fields of Machine Learning, Data Science, and Application and Communication Protocol Security. He is recognised for his ability to translate sophisticated research concepts, such as federated model trajectories and biometric signal complexity, into impactful learning experiences, fostering a new generation of IT professionals equipped to handle safety-critical infrastructure.
He is an active and prolific contributor to the global scientific community, with an extensive portfolio of refereed publications in premier venues. His work has appeared in leading journals, including IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, Scientific Reports, and Ad Hoc Networks. Furthermore, he provides consistent professional service to the community through his roles as a reviewer and contributor to esteemed international conferences and journals, ensuring the rigour and advancement of the broader fields of AI and Information Technology.
