BIO
Ollie is a PhD candidate and a Sessional Academic in Gender and Sexuality studies and Sociology. Their research project explores transgender and gender diverse people in Australia understand their gender identity, the broader category of transgender and their experiences in transgender and gender diverse communities. Their broader research interests are in gender and sexuality, queer studies and trans studies. Ollie is also a Sessional Academic in Sociology with experience teaching a broad range of sociological subjects.
Ollie graduated from Newcastle University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Social Science with Honours, their honours research explored transgender and gender diverse experiences in higher education. They where also actively involved in the Newcastle University Student Union advocating for change and inclusion within the university being a key part in the university implementation of gender neutral bathrooms. Ollie also has experience creating and facilitating LGBTQIA+ and transgender inclusion workshops. They continue to work at Deakin University to promote queer inclusion and research.
Ollie is currently the co-convenor of the HDR Peer Network for the Gender and Sexualities Research Network.
