DrTailane Scapin

Dr Tailane Scapin is a Deakin University Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Deakin Centre for Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition (GLOBE), a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for obesity prevention. She is also a researcher with the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Food Retail Environments for Health (RE-FRESH NextGen) and co-leads the INFORMAS (International Network for Food and Obesity / Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs)) Food Retail module. Additionally, Tailane serves as an Honorary Researcher within the Nutrition and Foodservice Research Centre (NUPPRE) at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil and holds the role of Associate Editor for Obesity Reviews.

Tailane's research is focused on employing mixed-methods approaches to address public health nutrition challenges, with a specific focus on food labelling policies, consumer behaviours, and strategies for promoting healthier eating within retail food environments. Her collaborative research initiatives encompass a diverse array of partners, including international researchers, food regulatory agencies in Brazil, public health organisations in Australia, and UNICEF. Currently, Tailane serves as the Project Manager and Research Partner in a multi-country initiative led by UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office. This initiative is dedicated to improving the healthiness of retail food environments for childhood overweight and obesity prevention in East Asia.
