DrJuuso Nieminen

Juuso Nieminen is a Senior Research Fellow within the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE), Deakin University. He holds degrees in mathematics education and special education, as well as a PhD in higher education. Juuso's research explores how assessment takes shape and shapes people in a social world. He has studied the social effects of assessment, feedback and grades on students' lives, focusing on the (often unintended) impacts of assessment on student identities, agency, and inclusion. Juuso's work is interdisciplinary, drawing on areas such as assessment, higher education, disability studies, and sociology. Methodologically, his expertise lies in advanced qualitative methods and qualitative research synthesis, such as meta-ethnographies and critical reviews.
