BIO

Dr Wade Halvorson is an award-winning entrepreneurship educator and academic leader whose work connects experiential learning, SME development, curriculum innovation and international collaboration. Drawing on substantial experience as a founder and business adviser, he designs and scales authentic learning models through which students develop entrepreneurial, consulting and employability capabilities while creating measurable value for industry partners.

 

At Deakin Business School, Wade is Academic Lead for the eight-unit Entrepreneurship and Innovation major launching in 2027 and leads curriculum coordination, educator capability development and the integration of experiential learning, authentic assessment and artificial intelligence across the major. He is also the Chair and lead academic of the Business Development Clinic, an award-winning WIL model that has engaged more than 500 students and 90 SMEs, with 62 per cent of participating businesses implementing student recommendations.

 

His educational leadership has received national and international recognition, including the 2026 USASBE Excellence in Pedagogical Innovation Award, a 2024 Australian Award for University Teaching, two Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching Excellence, and recognition through the QS Reimagine Education and ICSB awards. His scholarship focuses on experiential entrepreneurship education, SME consulting, authentic assessment, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, COIL and AI-enabled global learning.
