DrEllie Faulkner

Ellie is a Lecturer in Sport Management at the Deakin Business School and is a key member of the Deakin Sport Innovation and Technology Lab. She is currently awaiting the conferral of her Ph.D. at Swinburne University of Technology. Ellie's research takes a management and sport management perspective of gender equity and a qualitative method approach to investigate social change through sport, with particular interest in leaders across both sport and management sectors. Ellie's research interests span many areas, such as Athlete Wellbeing and Return-to-play, Social connection within community sport settings, Gender equity across all levels of sport, and intersectionality across the sport management workforce. Ellie not only brings new and innovative thinking to sport innovation and leadership, but she is an accomplished athlete having represented Great Britain at a competitive level in multiple events such as: Multiple European Championships, 2 Commonwealth Games (Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018 as a 4x Bronze Medalist), 2 x World Championships (Barcelona 2011 and Russia 2015), and 2 Olympic Games (London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016). Ellie has also served two years as the Higher Degree Research (HDR) Student Representative and now has taken on the role of Secretary for the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ).
