DrYinsong Chen

Dr Yinsong Chen is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Health and Social Development at Deakin University, working within the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN). His research focuses on trustworthy artificial intelligence, including Bayesian deep learning, explainable AI, and learning from limited or heterogeneous data. He develops methods that improve the reliability, interpretability and adaptability of AI across health and engineering applications.

His current work spans AI-enabled motor competence assessment, digital health and language-model adaptation. His research brings together methodological advances and practical applications, building on an established background in uncertainty-aware modelling and renewable energy forecasting. 

Dr Chen received his PhD from Deakin University in 2025 and holds a Master of Engineering (Software) from the University of Melbourne. During 2023–2024, he undertook a research exchange as a visiting scholar at FernUniversität in Hagen, Germany, supported by an Australia–Germany DAAD Research Fellowship. He has published in leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, Knowledge-Based Systems, Information Sciences, etc.

He welcomes interdisciplinary collaborations in trustworthy AI, digital health, movement assessment, language technologies and energy forecasting.
