TEACHING EXPERTISE
I am currently Course Director for Zoology and Animal Sciences couse. I enjoy sharing the delights of the natural world and all its complexities with students across the Science and Zoology courses. For many years I have taught into and coordinated the second year unit SLE224 (Animal Behaviour) and the third year unit SLE397 (Sensory Ecology). I have Honours students each year who have worked on projects in animal behaviour and the evolution of signalling behaviour, either gathering empirical data or analysing existing datasets. Honours students are welcome to contact me regarding projects on animal behaviour, chronobiology, physiological stress, bird song, endocrine control of behaviour, mate choice and sexual selection in birds or humans. I also teach into the Honours program in terms of helping students understand scientific integrity and publishing.
