BIO
Research Pathways Coordinator
Anne Cloonan is Associate Professor in Education in the School of Education
Studies at Deakin University where she teaches and researches in the fields of
language and literacy education and teacher research. Anne has worked in the
literacy education field as a primary school teacher, policy officer,
curriculum consultant, curriculum writer, professional development leader,
teacher educator and researcher.
Her research, framed by social semiotics and sociocultural theories, has
gained national and international recognition, impacting on policy and
practice in three intersecting areas:
* educational responses to the multiplicity of literacies required in digitalised communication environments;
* intercultural interactions of diverse teachers and learners, emanating in part from digital culture; and
* teacher-as-researcher positioning of professional and preservice educators in digitalised, globalised times.
Methodologically, and pedagogically, Anne seeks to work in sustained,
collaborative forms of inquiry that enable criticality and creativity,
engaging participants with insights from qualitative and quantitative
evidence.
