BIO

Dr Geetika Nambiar is a microbial ecologist with a research focus on host–microbe interactions. Her doctoral research at Deakin University explored the gut microbiomes of reef fish using high-throughput sequencing, bioinformatics, and multivariate statistics to understand microbial community composition, structure, and function. She has experience across molecular biology, microbiome analysis, and ecological statistics, and has contributed to research at institutions including JCU, CSIRO and AIMS. She is passionate about interdisciplinary science, capacity building, and enhancing our understanding of marine ecosystems through microbial insights. Enthusiastic about science communication and education, she has also taken on teaching and mentoring roles in microbiology, marine biology, and bioinformatics.
