RESEARCH INTERESTS

Associate Professor Hassan Vally is an active researcher in a number of areas.

Associate Professor Vally is involved in research in the area of chronic
diseases, including the effect of diet on health outcomes, diabetes, and
alcohol-induced disease. He is also actively involved in maternal and child
health research and Indigenous health.

His research in the area of infectious diseases includes COVID-19, influenza,
foodborne-diseases, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases. In
addition, Hassan is involved in applied research addressing the surveillance
and control of infectious diseases. Although recently his focus has been
mainly in Australia, he has extensive experience working in developing
countries, particularly in the Asia Pacific region.

Knowledge Areas
Associate Professor Hassan Vally is an epidemiologist whose strength is his
breadth of experience. Dr Vally has worked in a number of areas, including
infectious diseases, foodborne disease, nutrition, child health, asthma and
Indigenous Health and has spent many years involved in the investigation and
response to outbreaks and epidemics of disease.
