BIO

Megan Soria is a biotechnology professional making significant contributions to the field through her work in transcriptomic analysis and bioinformatics. Her academic excellence is underscored by her Master of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics with High Distinction from Deakin University, where she is currently pursuing her PhD.  Her research delves into the fascinating process of sex change in Barramundi, illuminating the complex genetic mechanisms underlying this phenomenon.  This work is complemented by broader explorations into the nuances of sex-specific genetics in humans, translating complex data into meaningful insights through collaborative projects that have resulted in cutting-edge publications.  Dedicated to fostering the next generation of scientists, Megan serves as a Sessional Lecturer, guiding postgraduate students through the intricacies of bioinformatics and instilling a practical understanding of research in undergraduates. Her work, particularly on sexual differentiation in fish, showcases her combined expertise at the intersection of genetics and data science. Partnering with colleagues, she contributes to a vibrant academic landscape where mentorship and collaboration empower the next generation of scientists.  Megan's commitment to advancing knowledge in bioinformatics is matched only by her passion for educating and inspiring students at Deakin University.
