BIO
Luigi Vescio is a Teaching Scholar in Performing Arts at Deakin University, Melbourne. Luigi is an educator, researcher, choreographer and performer creating works for theatres, galleries, digital and outdoor spaces. Notions of care, agency, unknowing and spontaneous shared authorship are central to his research which acknowledges art as a site-specific social encounter. Luigi's work predominantly manifests as live performance, installation, moving image or participatory encounter. Luigi’s non-traditional research has been presented at, among others, Buxton Contemporary, Gertrude Street Projection Festival in Melbourne and most recently the Venice Biennale through the European Cultural Centre. Luigi's participatory performance and video work Scores for Multi-species Partnerships sits in the Nillumbik Art Collection. Luigi values interdisciplinary collaboration, having presented work with Dr Phillip Adams/BalletLab, Dr Carol Brown, Dr Kate Hunter, Dr Katie Lee, Chunky Move/Anouk van Dijk, Amrita Hepi, John Romão and Body Cartography Project. Luigi completed a Master of Contemporary Art at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne (2020).
