BIO

Dr Josh Symes is an educator, school leader, and wellbeing specialist with national and international experience across Health and Physical Education (HPE), curriculum design, and educational leadership. His work focuses on evidence-based, student-centred learning environments, multi-tiered wellbeing frameworks, professional learning communities, and the intersection of AI and wellbeing in educational contexts.

 

Josh holds a Bachelor of Arts/Education (Major: HPE) from Federation University, a Master of Science in International Leadership (State University of New York), a Master of Education in School Leadership (University of Melbourne), and a Doctor of Education in K-12 School Leadership (Bethel University, USA). He has held senior leadership roles across Australian and international schools, including Acting Executive Principal, Deputy Principal for Wellbeing, and Program Director at ACHPER, before joining Deakin University's School of Education in February 2026, where he teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs and advances research-informed curriculum design.
