TEACHING EXPERTISE
Dr Angad Nayyar is an Associate Teaching and Research Fellow in the School of Architecture and Built Environment at Deakin University. He is the Unit Chair for Principles of Building Information Modelling (SRM751) and Unit Coordinator for Introduction to Building Information Modelling (SRM165). He has also taught and supervised across Construction Research Thesis (SRR402), Engineering Design (SEM721) and Engineering in Society (SEJ104) and has previously taught as a Sessional Seminar Tutor and Marking Academic in SRM751 and SRM165 before progressing through Graduate Research Teaching Fellow and Associate Teaching and Research Fellow and assistance appointments.
His teaching spans Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital engineering, engineering design, computational and parametric design, spatial computing, extended reality (XR), digital twins, AI-enabled design workflows, and immersive technologies for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. He is committed to delivering authentic, industry-informed learning experiences that integrate emerging technologies with professional practice, equipping students with the technical, collaborative, and critical thinking skills required for the digital transformation of the built environment. Alongside his teaching, Dr Nayyar contributes to curriculum development, honours supervision, and interdisciplinary research, ensuring that contemporary research in Human Building Interaction, healthcare architecture, spatial computing, and immersive technologies informs the classroom.
In 2025, he received the Faculty Impact in Teaching Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to teaching and student learning within Deakin University's Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment.
