Tadesse Melaku Asfaw

Tadesse is a PhD candidate in Politics and Policy at Deakin University. His research explores how ethnic nationalism shapes state sovereignty, federal arrangements, and the rule of law in Ethiopia and other multinational societies. He has taught, among others, constitutional law and transitional justice in Ethiopia and held academic roles including Assistant Professor of Law, Head of School of Law at Dilla University, and Editor-in-Chief of the Hawassa University Journal of Law. He has also led a research project on legislative drafting and lawmaking processes in Ethiopia’s former SNNPR region. His teaching and research interests include political theory, constitutionalism, the rule of law, identity politics, nationalism, contemporary Ethiopian politics, human rights, governance, federalism, and criminal procedure.
