BIO

Karine is Lecturer in Cyber Security and Strategy at the Centre for Future Defence and National Security, Deakin University, and a member of the Montreal Institute of International Studies (IEIM). She was also a Visiting Scholar at the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence and participated as an international leader in cyber security in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the US State Department. Before entering academia, Karine worked as a Policy Analyst at Global Affairs Canada, focusing on digital technologies, human rights, and security, and as a broadcast journalist for a television network in Québec, Canada.

 

She holds a PhD in Cyber Security and International Relations from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), an MA in International and Intercultural Communication, and a BA in International Relations and International Law from the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM).

 

Her research focuses on cyber warfare, cyber security, information operations, strategic narrative, and the role of the military in future conflicts. She publishes in both French and English, and her first book – an edited collection entitled Preparing the Cyber Peace – was published in French and sold in Canada and France.
