BIO
Raelene is an Autistic and ADHDer Educational and Developmental Psychologist, Play Therapist, Lecturer, Early Career Researcher and Author, with a specialised focus on neurodivergent children and young people. With a Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental) and a Master of Child Play Therapy, Raelene brings over 20 years of clinical expertise to her work with children and families. Her practice is grounded in neurodiversity affirming principles, informed by her own lived experience, professional learning and her many clients.
Raelene is a lecturer in Play Therapy at Deakin University and serves as the Clinical Director of Okey Dokey Childhood Therapy, a leading paediatric allied health practice in Melbourne, Australia. In this role, she has built a large multidisciplinary team with a reputation for delivering high-quality, evidence-based interventions that improve the mental health and wellbeing of neurodivergent children through supporting them to find their voice and to be their authentic selves.
An experienced educator and mentor, Raelene is a registered supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia, offering guidance to student, early career and senior Psychologists. She regularly provides professional training for educators and other allied health professionals, including providing supervisor training to other psychologists. Raelene has also been actively involved in providing expert opinion supporting advocacy for healthcare and social policy in Australia that supports neurodivergent interests. Raelene’s expertise has been showcased with presentations at international conferences in New York, Macau, Singapore, Prague, Hong Kong, Edinburgh, and throughout Australia.
As an author, Raelene has published five books through Jessica Kingsley Publishers in London. Her work has garnered international attention, with one title being translated and republished in three languages reflecting the importance of her work in advancing the understanding and support of neurodivergent children and their families.
