BIO

My name is Ashleigh Southam and I’m a creativity researcher and educator exploring the intersections of collaborative learning, creativity, and pedagogy, particularly within the context of music education. My doctoral research at Deakin University, supervised by Dr Shelley Hannigan, Dr Fiona Phillips, and Dr Jo Raphael, examines how instructional approaches—implicit and explicit—shape creative processes and learning outcomes, with a focus on group interaction, meaning-making, and peer feedback.

My academic journey includes international research collaborations with scholars from Australia, South Korea, China, Russia, and the UAE, contributing to global discussions on creativity in education. My work has been published in top-tier journals, including the International Journal of Music Education, reflecting my commitment to advancing knowledge in creative pedagogy.
