In my commitment to elevating Deakin’s profile in the quantum computing community, I actively sought opportunities to contribute to external outreach and engagement. During this time, I was invited by Dr. Lucas Hackl, Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, to serve on the organising committee for the Melbourne Quantum Summit—a major one-day event aimed at connecting researchers and industry professionals in the quantum space. I accepted the invitation and played a key role in coordinating various aspects of the summit, including developing a dedicated event website, sending invitations, securing a venue, and organising catering. I also engaged with researchers and industry leaders across Melbourne to ensure broad participation. When we encountered a funding shortfall, I initiated a collaborative approach by contacting each member’s university for support. As a result, Deakin contributed $500 (SIT Strategic Co-Funding Grant -2024) to the event, demonstrating its commitment to the emerging quantum ecosystem. Notably, the summit featured two presentations from Deakin University, including my own, which further showcased the university’s research strengths in quantum computing. The summit was a resounding success, drawing strong participation and positive feedback, and significantly enhanced Deakin’s visibility and leadership in the Victorian quantum technology landscape. ( “Happy New Year!it is great that you are organising such summit in Melbourne and excellent that you can encourage more people from Deakin.”)
