Associate ProfessorTania Penovic

A/Prof Penovic has taught core and elective units in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including legal process, torts, civil procedure, human rights in Australian law, international human rights law and women and alternative dispute resolution: principles and practice. Her teaching has received a number of awards and commendations, including a Monash University commendation from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education) for an outstanding unit evaluation (2017), a Monash Law Faculty commendation (2015), a Monash Law Faculty teaching award in recognition of outstanding teaching performance (2013) and Vice-Chancellor’s commendation on continued dedication to teaching and learning. Her postgraduate elective unit ‘International Human Rights Law and Women’ was judged the best postgraduate elective unit as judged by students (first half, 2020).

In addition to her undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Australia, A/Prof Penovic has taught in Vietnam National University’s Master of Laws, in the units International Human Rights Principles and Standards and International Law on Human Rights of Vulnerable Groups. She has also provided executive education on human rights to Australian and international government officials and magistrates and judges from Victoria’s Magistrates’, County and Supreme Courts.
