TEACHING EXPERTISE

My teaching and training contributions focus on research supervision, mentoring and implementation science capacity building. I have supervised 14 graduate research candidates to completion, with graduates progressing to academic positions, competitive fellowships and leadership roles within government and health services. I currently supervise graduate research candidates undertaking implementation science, nutrition, physical activity, obesity prevention and health services research.

I intentionally develop independent researchers through progressive opportunities to lead publications, competitive grant applications, stakeholder partnerships and research translation. Beyond formal supervision, I lead early- and mid-career researcher development within the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition (GLOBE), contribute to Deakin University's Early Career Academic Futures (DECAF) program, and mentor researchers nationally and internationally through implementation science and evidence synthesis training programs. My approach emphasises developing researchers who can generate rigorous, policy-relevant research and work effectively with governments, health services and communities to improve population health.
