BIO

Emeritus Professor Beverley Oliver was Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and
Alfred Deakin Professor at Deakin until December 2018. Emeritus Professor
Oliver led Deakin's ambitious Student Learning and Experience strategy,
including the drive to premium digital education and our partnership with
FutureLearn. Her portfolio included Academic Governance and Standards, Cloud
Campus, the Library, Deakin Learning Futures, the Dean of Students, the Centre
for Research in Assessment for Digital Learning (CRADLE) and DeakinCo.
Emeritus Professor Oliver was Deputy Chair of Universities Australia's Deputy
Vice-Chancellors (Academic) and Deputy Chair of the Board of EduGrowth, a not-
for-profit entity and Australia's acceleration network for high-growth,
scaleable, borderless education.

Emeritus Professor Oliver's leadership has been recognised through two
national Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning and
several nationally funded grants and fellowships, including a National
Teaching Fellowship (Assuring Graduate Capabilities, completed 2015); Teaching
Fellowship (Benchmarking Partnerships for Graduate Employability, 2010); Good
Practice Report (Assuring Graduate Outcomes, 2012); competitive grants
(Building course team capacity to enhance graduate employability, 2010; and
21C Credentials, completed 2016). Emeritus Professor Oliver researches and
publishes in areas associated with graduate employability, graduate skills and
capabilities, assessment and evidence of learning, digital credentialing,
curriculum reform and digital innovation.

In 2017, Emeritus Professor Oliver was awarded Deakin University's highest
honour, the title of Alfred Deakin Professor, for her outstanding and
sustained contribution to conceptualising the strategic enhancement of courses
in the digital economy and furthering the University's research and
scholarship in the field of higher education.

Emeritus Professor Oliver became a Principal Fellow of the UK's Higher
Education Academy in 2018.
