BIO
Dr Flynn Pervan is an Associate Lecturer in Criminology in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Deakin University.
Flynn's research spans the intersection of theoretical, historical, and critical criminology with a particular emphasis on disciplinary history, conceptual analysis, and historiography.
Flynn's research contributes to critical understandings of the discursive conditions of knowledge production in criminology, and advocates for critically and historically conscious processes of theoretical development and practice in the discipline. Flynn also has expertise in the scholarship of teaching and learning, with a focus on the design of inclusive alternative pedagogies in higher education.
Flynn welcomes enquiries from prospective Honours, Masters, and PhD students interested in research topics related to his areas of expertise. He is an expert in qualitative methods, including historical analysis, policy and media analysis, and discourse or narrative analysis. He also welcomes students applying or developing criminological, critical, and social theory.
