BIO
With a double master's degree, I bring a strong background in Clinical Nutrition and Food Science to my academic pursuits. I am passionate about expanding my knowledge in these fields and conducting research that can have a positive impact on our lives.
I have 3 years of academic experience, teaching food technology to both undergraduate and postgraduate students along with industrial experience. As a researcher, I'm particularly interested in the effects of diets and dietary components on gut microbiome and how they can be used to prevent and reverse metabolic disorders. My other areas of expertise lie in food safety, microbiology, nutraceuticals, and functional foods.
During my master's at the University of Glasgow, I studied the effects of different plant-based milks on the gut microbiota activity of healthy and obese adults using in vitro gut models. For my current research, I am studying the bioavailability of polyphenols, particularly anthocyanins and their effects on the gut microbiota, diabetes and inflammation using in vitro models.
My ultimate goal as a nutritionist is to promote an evidence-based healthy, safe, and sustainable diet along with lifestyle changes.
