BIO
Angie is a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker and Child & Family Therapist with over 30 years of clinical and leadership experience. As well as supporting the next generation of Play Therapists at Deakin, Angie works in her own private practice - The Counselling Space - specialising in child and play therapy, trauma-transformative practice, and neurodivergent-affirming approaches. She is a registered play therapy supervisor, and provides supervision to play therapists in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. She also an Accredited Social Work supervisor and provides supervision to social workers pursuing their mental health accreditation, and allied health practitioners more broadly seeking to deepen their work with neurodivergent clients using affirming frameworks. Her work is informed by her own lived experience as an AuDHD'er and a strong commitment to inclusive practice with LGBTIQAP+ communities.
Angie also has experience as a therapist and clinical leader/manager in the following fields:
- Family post separation services, including child contact centres
- Youth Mental Health Services (headspace)
- Domestic and Family Violence
- Families bereaved by homicide
- Out of Home Care and Adoption Services
- Early Intervention services for children and families
- Natural Disaster Recovery (including Black Saturday bushfires)
- Community Development.
