BIO
As a sessional academic, my main role is actually within industry, and I have been heavily involved in the delivery of major healthcare initiatives over many years across public health, aged care and disability. In the UK I worked for the National Health Service (NHS) Institute for Innovation and Improvement, who were responsible for delivering service improvement to the whole of the National Health Service. Since moving to Australia, I have worked on the commissioning of Fiona Stanley Hospital (WA), Perth Children's Hospital (WA) and the new St. John of God Berwick Hospital (Victoria). I also had a role working on a large programme of work to replace the Medical Imaging system used by the whole of the WA Public Health system.
More recently I worked for the Silverchain Group (community based aged and health care) as the Director of Digital Development, managing the current portfolio of their business and clinical applications, as well as helping to define their future vision, and my current role is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at MSWA - a profit for purpose organisation that support Western Australians with a neurological condition.
I have a strong technology background, but have been involved in the health, aged and disability care sector for a long time now and have practically seen how funding (and fundraising) works and some of the systemic problems that exist, as well as developing a deep understanding of delivering technology change into care based settings.
