TEACHING EXPERTISE

Since 2022, teaching responsibilities at Deakin University (School of Information Technology and School of Engineering and Science) have spanned a wide range of units, including Machine Learning (SIT307/SIT720), Deep Learning (SIT744/SIT319), Object-Oriented Development (SIT232), Data Wrangling (SIT220/SIT731), Professional Practice in IT (SIT223), Capstone Team Projects (SIT764/SIT375, SIT782/SIT378), and Fundamental Concepts of Mathematics (SIT106).

Across these units, responsibilities have included leading seminars, tutorials, and workshops; supporting lectures; mentoring individual and group projects; providing HelpHub sessions and academic guidance; and assessing and marking student work. Teaching has covered a diverse skill set, including machine learning, deep learning, statistical modelling, R and Python programming, object-oriented development with C#, SQL and data wrangling, data visualization, DevOps practices, Agile methodologies, and professional IT communication skills.

Pedagogical approach emphasises active and inclusive learning, clarity in delivering complex technical concepts, and integration of applied, research-informed examples. Teaching practice combines interactive learning design, constructive assessment and feedback, and one-to-one mentoring, ensuring that students not only develop technical expertise but also critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional readiness.
